International Short Story Competition «ODESSSIADA»

Worldwide club of odesites announces the launch of the International Short Story Competition «Odesssiada». We invite authors from around the world to join the literary dialogue about Odesa — a city that inspires, shapes, and never lets go.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
Submissions are accepted in Ukrainian and in any widely recognized international language — in the original language.
A short story will be admitted to the competition if at least one of the following two conditions is met:
1) the events take place in Odesa (fully or partially)
or
2) the protagonist is connected to Odesa (has lived in the city, was born here, has Odesa roots, or a significant period of their life is associated with Odesa).
PRIZES
Three awards are for the winners:
First Prize
— publication of the short story in the almanac Huxley
— 1000 conventional units
Second Prize
— 800 conventional units
Third Prize
— 500 conventional units
By decision of the jury, other short stories may also be selected for publication.
TERMS OF PARTICIPATION
- previously unpublished literary works are accepted;
- genre: short story;
- length — up to 22,000 characters including spaces;
- one text per author;
- short stories are not reviewed;
- all submissions undergo preliminary editorial selection;
- the winners are determined by the jury.
Participation in the competition implies the author’s consent to the possible publication of the text with mandatory attribution.
DEADLINES
- submission of short stories — until June 1, 2026;
- announcement of the results and winners — September 2, 2026 (on City Day).
